Windows 7 – How to Add a Quick Launch Folder to the Taskbar

The SevenForums.com site has an excellent “How To” on Adding the Quick Launch folder to the Taskbar in Windows 7. You can pin applications to the Taskbar in Windows 7 but soon find the Taskbar cluttered and disorganized.  Read on to see you can enable the Quick Launch folder in 2 easy steps.

I use the Quick Launch folder to provide quick access to program shortcuts, folder shortcuts that I access frequently in Windows Explorer, even a shortcut to a .bat file.  Tucking all this into a folder that is easy to find and does not require me to open a floating window just to get to the shortcuts is very convenient.  I can also control the order of the shortcuts to put related features near each other.  I also added the Links Folder from Internet Explorer to my Taskbar.

Adding the Quick Launch folder is done in 2 easy steps.

  1. Right Click on the Taskbar and choose Toolbars > New Toolbar.
  2. Type the following in the Address bar  %userprofile%AppDataRoamingMicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick Launch
