Windows 7 – Home? Pro? Ultimate? 64 bit? Get the answers here.

Win_7Windows 7 is here. Now what? Which one is right for me? There is a Home Edition, a Professional Edition, and an Ultimate Edition.   What about 64 bit?  These are some answers I found by browsing the following links.

If your are currently running a 32 bit OS you can determine if your system can handle 64 bit Window 7 by running the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.  I all depends on your processor’s capabilities.  Just switching to a 64 bit OS can be a significant improvement in performance.  It’s worth a shot if you can’t get new hardware right away.

Civil 3D 2010 now supports Windows 7.

A word of caution.  Object enablers may not be available in 64bit versions.  ODBC drivers may not be available in 64bit.
