Traverse Editor in Civil 3D 2016 Productivity Pack 3

From the readme file.

Update . Released May 18, 2016

The Autodesk® AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2016 Productivity Pack 3 provides a collection of new capabilities for Autodesk® AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2016 users. Survey and mapping professionals can leverage the new Traverse Editor to create points, lines, and curves representing traverse legs and sideshots using a broad set of COGO input and editing tools. They can also leverage the new Traverse Adjustment workflow to perform traverse adjustment and generate reports using Compass, Transit, Crandall, and Grant Line adjustment methods.

My first comments.

Civil 3D 2016 PP3 Traverse Editor testing
Sent suggestions through help system

  • Angle column should be labeled Direction
  • Radial column label should also imply direction if that is the expected value
  • Help should show an example of direction data entry syntax quad..dd.mmss

Description Keys are enabled when creating points

Civil 3D Right Click Line and Curve Label

All you Land Desktoppers that loved to label using a right click will like this.
Just type CUI to open the Customization dialog.

Add Segment Label
Add Segment Label

I copied an existing command (using a right click) on the left in the Context Menu area.  On the right I just edited the copied item.

Civil 3D Q&A

At the FSMS Manasota Chapter meeting 2016-05-04 I answered a few Civil 3D questions that may be helpful to others.

Q. Scott had a tool tip stick to his screen running AutoCAD Map 3D on a Dell Laptop.
A. I had the same problem.  Try updating your video driver.

Q. Dave asked about what to do with dwf files.
A. Use them as an xref.  You can snap to the geometry

Q. Kavin asked how to get Civil 3D to display DMS instead of DecDeg.
A. Edit the Drawing Settings > Ambient Settings (tab) and edit the Direction format to correctly display Bearings.  Edit the Angle format to display Central Angle and Degree of Curvature labels in DMS format instead of decimal degrees.
